Overview

This grand circuit takes in India's history, culture, heritage and natural beauty, with plenty of sightseeing, adventure and memorable moments.

Begin in Ahmedabad, then head to Jaisalmer, the Golden City, with its forts, havelis, desert landscapes, camel rides and Rajasthani culture. Continue to Delhi's landmarks and markets, and Agra, home of the Taj Mahal.

Then climb into the Himalayas: Manali's snowy peaks, the Atal Tunnel, Solang Valley, riverside Kasol and a trek to Grahan village. Finish in Amritsar at the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and the Attari–Wagah border before a final day in Delhi. Heritage, desert, city life and mountains, all in one trip.

See Sabarmati Ashram, closely linked with Mahatma Gandhi and India's freedom movement, and relax by the Sabarmati Riverfront. In the evening, take the train through Rajasthan's villages and deserts to Jaisalmer.

    Amritsar: Golden Temple and Wagah border

    Visit the Golden Temple, surrounded by the Amrit Sarovar and famous for its golden architecture and langar. Pay tribute at Jallianwala Bagh, the memorial to the 1919 massacre. End at the Attari–Wagah border for the energetic, patriotic Beating Retreat ceremony.

    Delhi: Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb and shopping

    See the Red Fort, a UNESCO site built by Shah Jahan in the 17th century, Jama Masjid (built 1650–56), and Humayun's Tomb, whose gardens and dome influenced the Taj Mahal. Finish with shopping at Sarojini Market and Karol Bagh before the drop at the station.
