Overview
Jaipur, the Pink City, is the capital of Rajasthan and a centre of history and culture. It's famous for Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and Jal Mahal, as well as Rajasthani cuisine and markets full of handicrafts, jewellery, textiles and colourful souvenirs.
From Jaipur, the journey continues to Jaisalmer, the Golden City, named for its yellow sandstone architecture. The magnificent Jaisalmer Fort rises above the desert, alongside Patwon Ki Haveli, Nathmal Ki Haveli and Gadisar Lake.
The highlight is an evening in the Thar Desert: camel rides, jeep safaris, desert camping, Rajasthani folk music and dance, and a sunset over the dunes. It's an ideal combination for families, students, groups and anyone after an unforgettable Indian experience.

Train journey to the Pink City
Board the train at Calicut and wave goodbye to Kerala's green landscapes. Crossing state after state, the scenery slowly turns into the dry, colourful landscapes of Rajasthan, with good company, music and food all the way to Jaipur.

Jal Mahal and Amber Fort
Jaipur is famous for its grand palaces, colourful markets and royal heritage. Jal Mahal, in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, is one of the city's most photographed sights, especially at sunrise and sunset. Amber Fort is a magnificent hilltop fort with grand courtyards, artistic gateways and spectacular views.

Palace of Winds and the stars
Hawa Mahal is known for its pink façade and hundreds of small windows, built so royal women could watch city life unseen. Jantar Mantar is a historic observatory with giant stone instruments. Nahargarh Fort, on the Aravalli Hills, is beautiful at sunset, and Bapu Bazar is the place for Rajasthani clothes, handicrafts and souvenirs.

Desert camp night
Head into the golden sands on an adventurous jeep safari across the dunes, followed by a peaceful camel safari as the sun sets over the Thar. In the evening, the camp comes alive with Rajasthani folk dance, traditional music and delicious food under a desert sky.

Kuldhara, Gadisar and the Golden Fort
Kuldhara is a mysterious abandoned village whose ruins offer a glimpse into the region's past. Gadisar Lake is surrounded by temples and shrines, perfect for photography. Finish at Jaisalmer Fort, the Golden Fort, whose palaces, temples and narrow lanes glow in the desert sun.
